Andy + Fiona + Molly

Being a photography fanatic, one of my favorite things about the holidays is getting all of the Christmas cards in the mail. I love to look at the family photos and think about what was going on while people were taking their photo. Since I am behind the camera so much, I can only image what is actually happening right before and right after the shutter clicks and most of the time it is not as glamorous as what happens the moment it clicks. That is what makes this job so much fun!

Heather and I had a great time hanging out with Andy and Fiona (and Molly) in downtown Denver grabbing some photos for their Christmas card. I work with Andy at Spyder and every once in a while he brings Molly into the office, so I knew that it was going to be a fun time.

I'm kind of sad that the Holidays are over and I have to wait until next year to do more Christmas card photos. But...I am looking forward to what 2010 has in store!

Braving the cold

A few months ago I got to go out with my buddy Josh Cook and just have some fun. There was no set agenda for this shoot but I asked him to bring his bike along and we went out along a road close to my house and just had him ride back and forth for about 30 minutes. Josh was a trooper and just kept lapping, and it was COLD. I actually don't feel bad for him because I was the one laying on the ground freezing while he was getting his blood moving.

As the sun disappeared on us we transitioned into some shots using the black sky as a background with a quick wardrobe change. Again, there was no real agenda here, but with Josh being a photographer as well he knew that being a complete idiot in front of the camera is what makes for the best pictures! Hopefully we will get the chance to go out again soon and get a little crazier.

Tanner Abel - musical gansta

Here is a quick peek into the life of my friend and uber talented musician Tanner Abel. We went to a sweet little gem in Denver that is most likely my new favorite place to shoot. We barely even touched the surface of all the different backgrounds and textures at this place.

I felt bad for Tanner the whole time we were out shooting because it ended up being a much colder evening that we anticipated and he was in short sleeves most of the time. At the end of the day though, I think we got a few good shots and had a fun time. More to come...

Chad + Dayle

Well, it has been a little while since we have updated the blog, but I am excited to get some of the photos from Chad and Dayle's wedding up. I know Dayle from college, and when she asked me to photograph her wedding I got all kinds of excited. They got married 2 days after Christmas at the Old Red Courthouse in downtown Dallas. This place has lots of character and some sweet bright colors that were great for photos, but the best part is that it was a beautiful day and the weather held up for us nicely.

This was, however, the first wedding that I have done without Heather and I definitely missed her...I had to carry around all the equipment by myself and get my own bottles of water! (kidding) She is a major help at every wedding and she takes amazing photos too! In fact, if you haven't been there yet go check out her new blog HERE and bookmark it...she actually updates it everyday.

Look for more posts to come soon as there is a lot of stuff on the backlog. Thanks Chad and Dayle for a great wedding. Have a blast in California!

Mya + Stewart +Avalin + Blake

Stewart , Mya, Avalin, and the newest addition Blake, met up with us in Boulder to do some fall family pictures. This was their first family session since baby Blake came along earlier this year! We were originally going for a morning session, but postponed to later that day so one of the kiddos could have some reprieve from the sniffles, but it turned out we were also racing a big winter storm as well! We love getting to take family pictures and try to capture the interactions between everyone involved. Avalin is SUCH a great big sister to her sweet little brother, and can always make him belly laugh! We were so blessed to be part of Mya and Stewart’s day, just hanging out with the kids and watching them play.

Luckily, we beat the storm (literally by about 10 minutes!) and got some great shots along the way. Mya and Stewart, thank you for letting us be apart of your day!

Lacie + Luke + Sophie

Earlier this month we had the privilege to drive down south of Denver to photograph three little beauties named Sophie, Lacie, and Luke. These kiddos and their mom were some of the sweetest people ever, and even though we’d never met we felt completely welcome and comfortable hanging out with them! Their house was gorgeous, with a rockin’ swing set and trampoline! We had a blast, but loved having the little quiet moments with each kid just taking it all in.

We are so thankful we got to hang out with you guys and create some awesome memories! Hopefully we can get the whole family together soon and do it all over again!
